The Impacts of Eating Beef

The vegetariandiet, as it is now known, has become an increasingly popular food style in industrialized countries, sometimes for strong animalistic principles, sometimes for healthy beliefs and sometimes just to follow a trend.

The fact is, even if we can not completely exclude meat from the diet, it is useful to know the impact that the daily production of meat and various animal derivatives has on the environment and ecosystem.
A study conducted by scientists at Bard College in New York, published last July, shows how eating beef has an environmental impact 10 times higher than other types of meat.

Specifically, analyzing the resources needed to produce the foods derived from animas (meat, dairy products, eggs, etc), it is clear that beef is by far the one with the greatest impact on the environment. Beef requires 28 times more land and 11 times more irrigation water of other products coming from animals.

In light of this new data, the American EWG also encourages a change in eating habits aimed at reducing beef consumption by replacing it with chicken. This replacement would not only guarantee a significant reduction in the emission of greenhouse gases, but also a reduction in the use of artificial food used to raise steers at low costs and meet the current large market demand

Ham With or Without Polyphosphates?

Polyphosphates are derived from Phosphorus, which is an element found in nature in living cells as it carries out important functions for bone, nerve tissue, and membranes
In the food industry, phosphates are used in the form of polyphosphates, they are food thickeners recognizable by the initials E 400 up to E 495.
Their use is very vast in the food industry, ranging from the use of leavening bakery products, to reducing acidity, to better preserve meat and preformed foods. They are abundantly used in cured meats (cooked and raw ham), which is why it is advisable and appropriate request cured meats without polyphosphates.

It is important to talk about it today because several studies have associated high levels of phosphorus with cardiovascular risk.

Still there is no specific data on this type of association/risk but, for this reason, while waiting for more research, polyphosphates are an element to keep under control in your daily diet.

As always, the advice is to prefer a diet rich in fresh foods, no canned foods, and no precooked foods.

Water Comparison between Sant’Anna and Cime Bianche di Carreful

Lovers of mineral waters that are low in sodium, minimally mineralized with a fixed residue <50mg, suitable for feeding children, surely know about Acqua Sant’Anna Di Vinadio, one of the best selling brands of so-called water sold in large retailers.

Not everyone is aware, however, that on the shelves of the Carreful supermarket chain there is a water called “Cime Bianche” with the Carreful brand that flows from the same source of Sant’Anna di Dinadio water and that has very similar physical chemical characteristics.

The water is in fact the same; same source of Vinadio (CN), the only substantial difference is the height at which the water is taken. Sant’Anna is sourced at 1,503 meters, while for Cime Bianche it is at 1,380 meters.

Normally, the higher the source the greater purity of the water, but, in this case, the difference at the source is only 123 meters. For the rest of the parameters are very similar with a fixed residue.
The price instead of Cime Bianche Carreful is about 28% lower than that of Sant’Anna di Vinadio.
In our opinion, therefore, the Crime Bianche Della Carreful water represents a valid and convenient alternative to Sant’Anna di Vinadio.

Vinegar; Natural Cleansing and Hygiene!

Vinegar is one of the oldest remedies used in both diets and domestic life. Whether it is apple or white wine is still an excellent ingredient in the diet. Recent studies have shown a positive effect against blood sugar and diabetes, but also in the cleaning and hygiene of the house.
In particular, it is very useful as a natural anti-scale on taps and stoves, slightly dilute the vinegar with a little water to give a shiny and sanitizing effect to all metals without scratching and ruining them.

The only recommendation is to rinse it after removing limestone, as it is always an acidic substance that can interfere with metal surfaces.

Another highly recommended use is as a sanitizing and natural rinse aid in the dishwasher, it takes less than a coffee cup at each wash to keep the dishwasher and washing machine filters perfectly clean.

It can still be effectively used to disinfect the dirty sponges in a natural way, just immerse them in water and vinegar and it will come out good as new, and without any of the bad smells.
Last but not least, you are able to clean your glasses and make them perfectly bright without any streaks! Simply insert water and vinegar in an old bottle with a spray dispenser, and proceed with the usual cleaning of the glass!

There really are many uses of vinegar, but in this post we wanted to focus on the most common for everyday use.
Our advice s always to return to nature, and use natural products, methods of our predecessors because they are much more environmentally friendly, causes less pollution and is less aggressive!
By taking small steps daily, you can make a big difference in the environment! Check out OLGA COLA Cosmetics products, that are natural, organic, and vegan, that can help you take the first steps towards being more environmentally aware!
