The Impact of the Sun

As the days begin to get longer, so does the amount of time our skin is exposed to the sun! As we get closer to summer, and the days start to get warmer, the UV (ultraviolet) rays from the sun get even stronger. This image of the sun, from the Smithsonian, shows what we experience everyday, especially with these warmer days! Extensive exposure to UV rays without ample protection for your skin can result in premature wrinkles and sun spots.
While it is always important to take care of your skin, it is especially important at this time of year to pay ample attention to your skin in order to keep it healthy. By wearing sunscreen, limiting your time in direct sunlight, and keeping your body and skin hydrated, you can minimize the effect that the sun can have on your skin!
Spring is just around the corner, and one of the tools to stay aware of UV rays is a UV Index. A UV Index can help you be aware of how strong the UV rays are in your location, which is impacted by an array of factors including pollution and cloudiness. This index, provided by the US EPA, details the scale, explaining the importance of skin protection, especially with a UV index of 6+!
Keep in mind, even if it isn’t hot, the suns rays can still be strong! Make sure to use sunscreen and to keep your skin healthy with OLGA COLA Cosmetics products.
