Today we want to talk nail polishes and their presence of the “toxic quartet“: formaldehyde, toluene, phthalates, camphor, and rosin.
It is a subject that causes a lot of interest because of the conventional glazes of well-known, expensive brands, also contain these substances declared to be toxic. Their use is allowed by law in small quantities. However, we feel obliged to give you information on this so that each of us is free to make their choices in a conscious manor.
Let’s see them in detail to better understand their characteristics and effects:
- Formaldehyde: a toxic substance with carcinogenic effects, induces skin sensitization, is corrosive to the skin, tissues, and mucous membranes. It is allowed and used in limited quantities in conventional cosmetics of chemical origin. We recommend and prefer to completely avoid exposure to this substance by opting for BioNatural treatments where this ingredient is completely banned.
- Toluene: extremely common in conventional cosmetics of chemical origin. It is an ingredient extracted from petroleum and contained in petrol, used in glazes as a solvent to guarantee fast drying and coverage.
